AFL Sydney Team of the Week - Round Three

Round Three of the AFL Sydney Women's competition had its fair share of one-sided victories and close finishes.

East Coast made easy work of Macquarie University, 7.10 (52) to 1.1 (7). While Southern Power's sole goal was enough to get over the Bombers, 1.3 (9) to 0.2 (2). The two ladder leaders, Manly Warringah and Sydney University, continued their unbeaten run with Sydney Uni just getting over the UTS by eight points, while the Wolves brushed aside the Magpies with a five goal win.

Round Three also saw UNSW register their first win of the 2020 season with a 8.6 (54) to 4.6 (30) win over Pennant Hills.

Scroll down to see this round's Team of the Week, plus a small breakdown of the named squad.

Captain: Georgia Garnett

Vice-Captain: Lisa Steane

The two teams that had the biggest wins on the weekend have had their dominance reflected in this week's side, with both Manly Warringah and East Coast each having four named players. Following closely behind them is UNSW with three players represented.

As for the leaders, following her third standout game in a row for the Eagles - Georgia Garnett receives the Captaincy while the Vice-Captaincy goes to the Wolves' second Best on Ground, Lisa Steane.

Our Vice-Captain for this week finds herself in the forward line, alongside Inner West's Rebecca Privitelli and North Shore's Pippy Clegg. At half forward, we have Hayley Lowe from Pennant Hills, and holding her spot in the week's side is Mikaela Mahony from Sydney Uni.

This week's followers are mostly the same as the previous round, with East Coast's Sarah Ford and Manly Warringah's Emily Goodsir holding their spots in the side - along with a new addition in Nicholle Cooke-Hayes from the Southern Power. The Eagles and Wolves have their dominance reflected through our midfield, with Madeleine Ferguson and Elizabeth Graham both calling it home.

Our Captain, Georgia Garnett, is named at half back alongside Renee Scheffer from UNSW and Claudia Gunjaca from UTS. Rounding out this week's defence is Madison Smith from the Southern Power and Matilda Eder from North Shore.

This Week's interchange is home to Grace Hill from UTS and Holly Harrison from UNSW. Following her two goal performance for the Magpies, Eilish Sheerin also finds herself in our Team of the Week, as well as another East Coast Eagle in Chloe Arndt.

The final three spots in the Round Three AFL Sydney Team of the Week go to Seena Gulden (UNSW), Jessica Layton (MW), and Chole Davis (MU).
