GSFL Womens Team of the Week - Round Two
Round Two sees the Eagles soar, the Roosters crow, the Bulldogs maul and the Demons shine.
The reigning premiers joined the winners list for the first time in 2021 as McLaren managed to hold off Goolwa to win, 4.4 (28) to 2.2 (14). The Eagles held the Magpies scoreless during the third term, which certainly helped the side claim their first win of the year.
Six unanswered goals during the opening term set Willunga on a path to a massive win over Victor Harbor. The Demons, who were well-supplied through Jessica Harris, finished with a 20.16 (136) to 1.0 (6) win to continue their unbeaten start to the year.
The ladder-leading girls from Strathalbyn continued their strong start to the season. The Roosters showed they will be another team to beat this year as they overcame a slow start to defeat Encounter Bay, 0.1 (1) to 12.8 (80).
Brooke Boileau shined for Mt Compass as the Bulldogs also overcame a slow start to defeat Yankalilla. Just one point separated the two sides at quarter time, but the Bulldogs broke away to win, 9.12 (66) to 1.2 (8).

Captain: Jessica Harris Vice-Captain: Brooke Boileau
Every side has been represented in our Team of the Week, but it is the undefeated Demons that lead the way with the most players named. Closely following them are the other teams that make up the 'Big Four', as Mt Compass, McLaren and Strathalbyn all sit with four named players.
The leaders for this week are two of the competition's bright youngsters. Willunga's Jessica Harris earns the Captaincy after booting seven goals during Round Two. Mt Compass and South Adelaide prospect, Brooke Boileau earns the Vice-Captaincy after booting four goals during the Bulldogs' win.
Headlining the Round Two forward line is this week's Captain, Jessica Harris. She joins the side after booting seven of Willunga's twenty goals on Sunday. She is joined by fellow Demon, Kristen Rothwell, who added two goals to her own tally.
One of the best performances from a forward was also on display during Round Two, with Strathalbyn's Megan Rich kicking an impressive five goals to earn Best on Ground honours for the Roosters.
Another Rooster is also named up forward, with Indigo Miller holding her spot in our Team of the Week after booting two goals,
Centre half forward is home to McLaren's Ally Bailey, who helped the Eagles join the winners list for the first time this year thanks to her two goals. The final spot in this week's attack belongs to Emily Smith, who impressed for the Bulldogs.
Rucking duties belong to Yankalilla's Laura Smith. A member of the 2020 GSFLW Team of the Year, Laura earned Best on ground honours during the Tigers Round Two loss.
The young Tiger and Panther, Leah Bailey, also joins this week's side after impressing in the yellow and black.
On the opposite wing is another Panther, this time it is Brooke Boileau who earns this week's Vice-Captaincy after impressing for the Bulldogs. Which is perhaps best shown through her goal tally of four majors. Brooke is joined by fellow Mt Compass teammate, Linda Shute, who makes the Round Two side on the back of a strong performance.
Separating the two wings is the reliable Goolwa performer, Asha Bell. Despite not getting the win, Asha was still one of the highlights for the Magpies during Round Two.
The final spot amognst the followers belongs to Strathalbyn's Emogen Johnson, who continued her strong start to 2021 by collecting three majors during the Roosters big win.
Half back is home to the fast-paced rebound defender, Caitlin Radbone, who enjoyed a strong day out for the Demons during Round Two. Joining her is another Demon, Shae Archbold who has enjoyed a stellar start at her new club.
Annabel Thomas also joins the Round Two side after impressing for the Roosters at half back. Joining her along the half back line is McLaren's Emily Rowe, who equally impressed for the Eagles.
Best on Ground for the Magpies on the weekend was Catherine Griffen, and fittingly she also finds herself in this week's side as well. She is joined by a fellow Magpies teammate, with Goolwa full back Caitlin Curyer also joining this week's side.
The versatile Demon, Ella Radbone, finds herself amognst our rotations for this week after putting on an impressive display for the undefeated Demons.
Also amognst the rotations for this week is McLaren's Katrina Munzberg who also impressed on Sunday, as well as the first Victor Harbor player to make the Team of the Week this year, Daisy Blencowe.
The final two spots in the Round Two GSFLW Team of the Week belong to the reliable McLaren ruck, Jessica Veasey as well Mt Compass's Heidi Smith.
