GSFLW Team of the Week - Round Five

Lest we Forget: Anzac Round sees the Kangaroos bring their 672 day winless streak to an end, while the Tigers stun the Roosters, and the Bulldogs and Demons look the favourites to contest this year's big dance.

Yankalilla v Strathalbyn:

Yankalilla kicked off Anzac Round with a convincing 28-point win over Strathalbyn, 2.2 (14) to 5.12 (42). The Tigers were well-supplied by the usual culprits, with Colbie Frankland, Helen Maidment, Leah Bailey and Jemma Ellis all putting in strong displays.

Victor Harbor v Encounter Bay:

Sunday, 23 June, 2019, otherwise known as Round 13, was the last time that Victor Harbor found themselves on the winners list when they beat cross-town rival Encounter Bay by 54-points. 672 days later, the blue and white once again find themselves on the winners list after beating the Bays, 1.3 (9) to 3.5 (23).

Mt Compass v Goolwa:

A fast start by Mt Compass saw them get over the top of Goolwa by 40 points, 1.3 (9) to 7.7 (49). It is getting hard to keep a lid on it down at Mt Compass, but with the Bulldogs sitting undefeated after five rounds--maybe their time has come.

Willunga v McLaren:

The Grand Final rematch ended the same as it did during Round One, albeit this time the Demons came out on top with an even greater result, 1.1 (7) to 7.9 (51). Holding the Eagles to just one goal is a major feat in itself--while at the other end Jessica Harris was able to kick four goals to help the red and white over the line easily.
