GSFLW Team of the Week - Round Three

Round Three of the GSFLW saw Willunga continue their winning-ways with a dominate, 128-point win – a result that is reflected heavily in this week’s side.

Likewise, the other of the competition’s best performers, Mt Compass, Strathalbyn and McLaren, all registered wins over the weekend.

As with our previous Team of the Week – all the spots on the side are based purely on that player’s performance during that same round, and while we have tried our best to keep the positions accurate, some are in their SANFLW positions while others have been moved around so we can fit them in.

Scroll down to see this round’s Team of the Week, plus a small squad breakdown.

Captain: Layla Rogers

Vice-Captain: Neve Frankland

Due to their big win, Willunga holds the greatest number of spots in this week’s side with seven named players, following them is McLaren with six, and Strathalbyn with five. Unfortunately, Victor Harbor sits as the only club that is not represented in our Round Three side.

This week’s Captaincy goes to the very talented McLaren product, Layla Rogers, while the Vice-Captaincy goes to Willunga’s second best on ground during their thumping win, Neve Frankland.

With 19 goals kicked on the weekend, it is not a surprise that the Demons count for half of the players in this week’s forward line, with Dakota Oniszk, Kayla Catford and Kimberly Robinson all being named up forward. Joining them is McLaren’s Birttnie Wyld, Compass’s Mykala Walker-Murphy, and Strathalbyn’s Emily Cozamanis.

Once again, Katrice Turner finds herself on the wing, and she is joined by fellow teammate, Ella Radbone. On the opposite wing is Strathalbyn’s Katie Ehlers, while her fellow teammate, Tessa Grant is named on ball.

Experienced SANFLW player, Tiffany Copley, holds her spot in the side, as does Goolwa’s Renee Moon.

Down in defense is this week’s Captain, Layla Rogers. She is joined by a duo of fellow Eagles as Emma Goldsmith and Donna Boal are also named down back. The Frankland sisters are also named down back, with the very versatile Colbie Frankland named at full back, and this week’s Vice-Captain, Neve Frankland, named at halfback. Talented Rooster, Annabel Thomas, rounds out our backline for this week.

A talented Mt Compass duo makes up half of this week’s interchange, with Amy Taylor and Linda Shute both named there. Joining them is McLaren youngster Meg Bentley, and Strathalbyn’s Georgie Pater.

Making the side for the second week in a row is Yankalilla’s Laura Smith, while Goolwa’s Michaela Hoppen and Encounter Bay’s Achol Agany round out this round’s Team of the Week.
