GSFLW Team of the Week - Round Two

After several long months of waiting - the Great Southern Football League Women's competition is finally back, and to celebrate we bring to you our very first GSFLW Team of the Week.

Round Two of the GSFLW season saw a rematch between last year's Grand Finalists, only this time it was McLaren who came out victorious. Meanwhile, Willunga proved that they will be one to watch out for during this season as they demolished Encounter Bay.

As with our other Team of the Weeks, all the spots on this side are based purely on that players performance during that round, so no previous accolades will be taken into consideration. We tried our best to get the positions as close as possible, but with a lack of information available there are bound to be some out of position.

Scroll down to see our very first GSFLW Team of the Week, as well as a small breakdown.

Captain: Tiffany Copley (McLaren)

Vice-Captain: Katrice Turner (Willunga)

Reflective of their dominant Round Two display, Willunga hold the most spots in this week's side with five. Following them is Strathalbyn with four spots, and both McLaren and Mt Compass sit with three spots each. As we mentioned earlier some positions are bound to be out of place while others are in their SANFLW playing positions rather than their local level ones.

As for this week's leaders, we have selected a 2019 SANFLW Premiership player and a proud McLaren product, Tiffany Copley as this week's Captain. The Vice-Captaincy goes to the second best on ground during the Demons big win, and that is Katrice Turner.

Joining Turner from Willunga is Kristen Rothwell, as well as Colbie Frankland, Jodie Hunt, and young-gun Ella Radbone. Joining some of these in defense is the SANFLW experienced duo of Layla Rogers, and Helen Maidment, as well as the promising duo of Chelsea Howe and Holly Wallace. Wallace has found herself at half back because we really wanted her as a starter - but there was a lot of competition in the midfield.

The GSFLW Team of the Week's forward line is very potent thanks to the addition of Taylah Eastwood, Brittnie Wyld, Catherine Griffen, Asha Bell, and young Georgia Harrington. Joining this week's Captain in the middle is Brooke Boileau, as well as Renee Moon and the very exciting Emogen Johnson.

Mt Compass's Amy Taylor, Yankalilla's Laura Smith, Victor Harbor's Demi Morse, and Strath's Courtney Mesecke round out this round's GSFLW Team of the Week.
