SANFLW Team of the Week - Round 6

Six down, four to go - Round Six of the SANFL Women's competition saw all the current top four teams tighten their grips on a finals position, with North Adelaide, South Adelaide, West Adelaide and Norwood all registering wins.

Eagles once again came close to beating Norwood for the second time this year while a third quarter blitz saw Glenelg come close to upsetting the league leaders.

The Round Six SANFLW Team of the Week has been dominated by the league's younger players - which is a great sign for the competition's future.

Scroll down to see the list and a small breakdown of the named players.

Coach: Mark Moody (West Adelaide)

Captain: Sophie Armitstead

Vice-Captain: Nikki Gore

Every SANFLW club has been represented by at least two players in this round's Team of the Week. North Adelaide, South Adelaide and Norwood hold the most spots with four apiece while West Adelaide, Sturt and Central District each have three.

Due to West Adelaide's continued strong performance this season - we have chosen their Head Coach Mark Moody as this round's Team of the Week coach. As for the two leaders, we have selected Norwood's best on ground from their Round Six win to lead our side, which is none other than the talented Sophie Armitstead. The Vice-Captaincy position is held onto by Nikki Gore, whose Round Six performance saw her exhausted by the final siren and she continually went in for the hard ball despite coping several hard hits throughout the match.

For the sixth consecutive round, Matilda Zander has made our Team of the Week while on the opposite wing we have the fast-paced Panther, Tahlia Meyer. AFLW stars Anne Hatchard and Ebony Marinoff both hold onto their spots after going head to head in Round Six.

The AFLW experienced West Adelaide forward duo of Chelsea Biddell and Stevie-Lee Thompson make up the Team of the Week's very potent forward line. At the other end of the ground, we have the third West Adelaide AFLW product in Maddi Newman, whose clean skills and pace were on show during Round Six.

Joining Newman in defense is the Captain of this week's team, Sophie Armitstead as well as the All-Australian defender Sarah Allan and the Panther product from GWS, Lisa Whiteley. Norwood's second best on ground during Round Six, Ashlee Gould and the young-gun Eagle, Tesharna Maher, round out our backline.

North Adelaide's Lauren Daniel and Central District's Laitiah Huynh rejoin this round's Team of the Week - while promising North youngster Hannah Ewings continues to hold onto her spot. Joining them in the forward line is Sturt debutant Tiah Hough, who kicked off her SANFLW career in spectacular fashion by being recognised as Sturt's second best on ground.

Another promising Sturt player as well as the Double Blues best on ground from Round Six, Zoe Prowse, joins the Team of the Week as our ruck. She is joined in the middle by South Adelaide product and this week's Vice-Captain, Nikki Gore.

This week's interchange is filled with promising talent and some of the league's brightest youngsters, with Central's Maddy Lane, Norwood's very versatile Bella Smith, Sturt's Lucy Griffith, and proud Tiger product Madi Freeman all coming together to form a very exciting interchange.

As for the emergencies, South Adelaide's mobile-ruck Indy Tahau, North's Katelyn Pope, and Eagle's Jess Sedunary round out this week's SANFLW Team of the Week.
