SFLW Team of the Week - Round Seven

Round Seven sees Port Noarlunga register their first-ever win, while the Saints and the Wineflies claim percentage boosting wins.

A dominant first-quarter display saw Port Noarlunga steam away to claim their inaugural SFLW win, 6.14 (40) to 0.3 (3). Hackham was held scoreless for the first half of the match while the Cockledivers, who were well supplied by Bridie Nye, built an imposing 41 point lead by halftime. This win could have been by even more if it was not for some wayward kicking.

Three straight goals were kicked by the Saints during the opening term of the Christies Beach and Aldinga clash, and from there it all went the way of the Saints till the final siren signaled the 9.7 (61) to 1.1 (7). Christies Beach, who regained junior product Lily Lee after her long stint out with injury, dictated the majority of this match.

Reynella's forward power was too strong for Cove to cope with as the Wineflies kicked away to win, 11.5 (71) to 3.8 (26). Caitlin Williams was dangerous in front of the sticks while Grace Doran made her impact around the stoppages. As for the Cobras, Dana O'Brien was strong but the Cobras were not overall strong enough to get the win.

Captain: Bridie Nye Vice-Captain: Grace Doran

The Round Seven plays host to the most Port Noarlunga players to make a single Team of the Week yet as four players call this week's side home.

The Captain of the Round Seven side is Port Noarlunga's young gun, Bridie Nye, who finished their inaugural win with a Best on Ground performance to match her two goals. The Vice-Captain is Reynella ruck, Grace Doran, who did her best to cause headaches for the opposition.

It is easy to see where the goals came from this week by looking at the Round Seven forward line as four of the players hail from Reynella.

Caitlin Williams led the way for the black and white with three goals, while Emily Franklin had a similar presence up forward with two. Madison Bennett made the most of her chances with a single major while young gun, Ella Besley, also makes another appearance on the team sheet.

The other two spots in this week's attack belong to Cove's Felicity Oliver and Brooke O'Brien, the latter of which finished with three goals to her name.

Reynella's ruck and our Round Seven Vice-Captain, Grace Doran, gains the rucking duties for this week after earning Best on Ground honours during the Wineflies strong win.

Also in the on-ball division is our Captain and exciting Port Noarlunga young gun, Bridie Nye. This prospect has been one of the most consistent performances for the Cockledivers so it is only fair that she earns the title of Captain following their inaugural win.

Cove's Best on Ground, Dana O'Brien, rounds out this week's followers while Hackham's ever-reliable player, Alana Browne, earns a spot in the middle.

Emma Crisp, a regular standout for Christies Beach, joins the Round Seven side after making her presence felt on the wing. The opposite wing is home to Port Noarlunga's Madison Harris who had a similar effect on her side.

Christies Beach defender, Paige Simmons, headlines this week's backline after she earned Best on Ground honours during the Saints' massive Round Seven win.

Joining her on the half backline is Cove's Lara Dungey and the exciting Port Noarlunga prospect, Kaiya Ivett.

The intercepting Hawk, Emily Hateley-Watson, also finds herself in the backline. While an Aldinga duo of Holly Rowe and their Best on Ground, Amber O'Hanlon, round this week's defense.

Headlining this week's rotations are Port Noarlunga's Sheridan Poland along with Hackham's Best on Ground, Chrysti Flevill.

There is also a tall tandem in this week's side with Christies Beach tall, Rachael Farlam, and Cove's Emma Fitzpatrick rounding out this week's rotations after impressing for their respective sides.

The final two spots in our Round Seven MWM SFLW Team of the Week belong to Reynella's Renee Wurfel and Christies Beach prospect, Neriah Milis.
