SFLW Team of the Week - Round Ten
A bold week for the winners but a bitter week for the losers: Round Ten sees none of the losing sides manage to register a major score.
Christies Beach got their season back on track with a 98-point demolition of Aldinga, 15.9 (99) to 0.1 (1). The Saints, who were spurred on by Nicole Campbell's first-outing for 2021, were in control from the first bounce and before long, had an accurate five-goal lead at the first break. However, they will be without young-gun forward, Indi Flynn, for several weeks due to a stress fracture. As for the Sharks, Amy Matthewson and Jessica McCann backed up last week's strong performance with another decent display.
Reynella managed to grind down the Cove Cobras to claim a hard-fought 62-point win, 9.12 (66) to 0.4 (4). Despite some wayward kicking the Wineflies, who were well-supplied by Emily Franklin, managed to break the game wide open during the second half with six unanswered goals. For the Cobras, Layla Dungey and Jessica Sims were the highlights of an otherwise average day.
Emily Brockhurst has now kicked 20 goals in three weeks, with her Round Ten tally sitting at 6 majors. Emily was responsible for over half of the Falcons goals, with the final scoreline reading 8.15 (63) to 0.1 (1) in favour of Flaggies. Port Noarlunga had their work cut out for them during this match, but Samantha Lynch and Madison Harris were able to make something out of nothing.

Captain: Nicole Campbell
Vice-Captain: Chloe Meyers
The weekend's biggest and only winners, Flagstaff Hill, Christies Beach and Reynella, lead the way this week with the most number of players named.
The Round Ten Captain goes to a Christies Beach Saint who made her first appearance this SFLW season but to a great effect--we are of course talking about the South Adelaide midfielder, Nicole Campbell.
The Vice-Captain is the hard-running and silky Falcon, Chloe Meyers, whose efforts on the weekend saw her named as Flagstaff Hill's Best on Ground.
Headlining this week's attack is Flagstaff Hill's seemingly unstoppable forward, Emily Brockhurst. Emily's tally of 6 majors on the weekend means her recent string of goals across the last three rounds equals 20--and she now leads the league in goalkicking by 9.
However, she was not the only impressive performer in front of the sticks on the weekend as the Christies Beach gun-forward, Brooke O'Brien, kicked 5 majors. Brooke is joined by fellow high-scoring Saint, Emily Risitano, who finished with 4 goals.
Deep in the forward line is the fast-paced and ferocious tackler from Reynella, Madison Bennett, who was one of the many standouts for the Wineflies on the weekend.
Centre-half-forward plays host to Reynella's Best on Ground, Emily Franklin, whose impressive display in the black and white included 2 goals. This impressive forward was in the running for a leadership position of our Team of the Week--but despite missing out, she still deserves an honourable mention.
Rounding out the front six and keeping her spot up forward is Aldinga's Amy Matthewson, whose actions on the weekend saw her get named as the Sharks second Best on Ground.
Rucking duties fall to Reynella ruck, Grace Doran, who has been one of the better players in the middle for the majority of the season. Grace's actions on the weekend were labelled as the second Best on Ground for the Wineflies.
The on-ball division is home to the star Christies Beach performer and SANFLW premiership player, Nicole Campbell, who showed what we were missing out on with an impressive display during her first hit-out for the 2021 SFLW season. As the Captain of our Round Ten side, Nicole's Best on Ground performance saw her hit the scoreboard with 2 majors.
Port Noarlunga's Best on Ground, Samantha Lynch, rounds out the on-ballers for this round after being one of the main highlights of the Cockledrivers' Round Ten clash.
One wing is home to the promising Christies Beach product, Charli Leuschel, who has instantly made an impressive impact for the Saints since returning from injury.
The other wing is home to Flagstaff Hill's Isobel Dyson who makes yet another appearance in our Team of the Week. Isobel's display, which was rated as the second Best on Ground, included 2 goals.
Finally, the middle plays host to our Round Ten Vice-Captain, Chloe Meyers, who was the standout Falcon during what was a standout day for Flagstaff Hill. The hard-running and gutsy Falcon topped off her weekend display by earning Best on Ground honours.
A trio of Cove Cobras makes up our back six, with the SLFW Association Captain, Renee Ullrich, joining rebounder Lara Dungey, and Cove's Best on Ground, Jessica Sims.
Deep in defence is a Christies Beach defender that caused some serious headaches for the opposition on the weekend; which is none other than Mia Dunn.
Rounding out the back six are Port Noarlunga's Belinda Gale and Alindga's India Hamdorf, who were two defenders who were put under the pump all day on the weekend by a classy opposition outfit--but they managed to hold their own.
The versatile Flagstaff Hill Falcon, Zoe Walker-Roberts, continues to add plenty of pressure up-forward and in the stoppages; and she bolsters this week's rotations.
Likewise, Alindga's Best on Ground, Jess McCann, and Reynella's Renee Wurfel also add plenty of talent to this week's backup brigade.
Rounding out the rotations is Port Noarlunga's Madison Harris who has proven to be one of Porties most consistent performers having been named in their top two best players for the last three weeks.
The final two spots in our Round Ten MWM SFLW Tema of the Week belong to the outstanding Saint, Melanie Koster, and the talented Flagstaff Hill winger, Erin Mcorsley.
